Welcome to the new year with Swordchomp! Nostradamus was right! We decided to start off the new year with thumbing through timeworn, sooty tomes filled with information on forthcoming games. After hours upon hours of straining our eyes towards the small text etched onto the worn parchment, we discuss the games that we are most excited to play in 2017. From Mass Effect: Andromeda to Destiny 2 to Red Dead Redemption 2, and to everything in between, this coming year promises to be one filled with excitement and satisfaction for gaming.

Flying, surfing, cutting, and rock smashing our way straight into this podcast, the Swordchomp crew dive into our initial waterfall of thoughts regarding Pokemon Sun and Moon. Finally, we discuss some news, such as the release of the NES Mini, the new trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda, and the ever-polarizing subject of politics.
Lost, stranded, and wandering in a dark world, we at the Chompcast meander through Inside to discover and ponder a deep and underlying meaning to the Boy’s journey. We come out of the dark into Mafia 3, a societal adventure that delves into a dismal era in recent American history. We briefly look to the future with a mention of Titanfall 2. We round out the show up with a hearty serving of news ranging from Blizzcon announcements to Valve quashing false advertising.
With a sword sheathed at our side and our guns holstered, the Swordchomp crew wanders into the remains of a world once teeming with technology. We take control of a drifter torn apart by disease, and discover the secrets of Hyper Light Drifter. After our time spent in a post-apocalyptic world, we are magically teleported to a universe called The Regions, a universe filled with magic and wonder. We each take control of one of seven protagonists in the old-school JRPG Saga Frontier. We don’t stop there, though. We discuss some of gaming’s hottest news topics, such as the Nintendo Switch, the announcement of Red Dead 2, and Bethesda’s decision to send out game review copies of future games only one day before release.
The Chompcast takes a break from the usual discussion and debate of video game titles to bring you a titillating and energizing new segment: Roundtable discussion. A Roundtable discussion involves us picking a topic of gaming and then making personal top 10 lists. From there, we select the five we feel are the all-time best and etch them in a tome for history. For our first Roundtable discussion our topic is gargantuan, frightening, and dare we say epic: bosses.
The underwater adventure continues this week on the Chompcast as we descend into the briny deep of Abzu, a game filled with wonder and joy. Opinions were mixed on the game, and we remained divided at the end of the discussion. Shea and Josh, or Mulder and Sculley (you can decide which one is beautiful enough to play as the beautiful Dana)? They share their time with a supernatural thriller of a game, Oxenfree. Keeping this podcast shorter, we wrap up with some news regarding Cuphead and EVE Online.
Uncharted 4 gets all the love as we here at Swordchomp shower it with many high praises. Doom claws its way from the depths of hell as Morgan briefly mentions his time with the game thus far. An aria from the depths of a starry sea fills our ears as Shea discusses Song of the Deep and Super Mario 64: Last Impact, the fan-made sequel to Super Mario 64. The evening newspaper recoils off our front door, and we are thrust into conversation of news regarding Overwatch, Gears of War, Pokemon, and No Man’s Sky.
